The B1 level marks the stage at which learners become independent users of Greek, capable of functioning with relative autonomy in everyday, social, and professional contexts, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level, learners can understand the main points of clear standard input, participate actively in conversations, and produce connected spoken and written texts on familiar topics.

This B1 syllabus follows the academic principles applied by the School of Modern Greek Language of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while remaining pedagogically adaptable and learner-centered. It integrates communicative situations, text genres, discourse strategies, and systematic grammatical expansion, enabling learners to move beyond basic exchange toward meaningful interaction and narration.

The program emphasizes discourse coherence, functional accuracy, and communicative strategies, preparing learners to describe experiences, express opinions and emotions, justify viewpoints, and manage a wide range of real-life communicative situations. Successful completion of B1 provides a solid foundation for advanced study at B2 level and beyond.
